Blessings of Friendship

Relaxing
on my sunporch, I am enjoying my coffee; yum, it is so delicious.
Cradling my cup in my hands, not only are my hands warmed but my
heart is too as I think about the many wonderful ways I have been
blessed by people who love me. Rocking, I know that I have the
“Blessing of Friendship.”
Friendship is the perfect
gift and fits all sizes. Friendship has many designer names, like
honey, dear, sugar plum, pumpkin, sweet pea, and lovey. Actually,
there are many more sweet names that express a person's heart and
says so much, especially “I love you” and “ you are worth my
time and energy.”
Think about the friends
you enjoy. Each one is unique, with their own personality, style,
and their seasons of life will vary. Yes, we have friends of all ages
and each one gives us something that makes us grow in wisdom,
patience, and caring while sharing our hopes and dreams. Having
friends that allow each other to grow and be themselves is vitally
rich.
So many times it seems we
have blinders on when it comes to all the little everyday blessings
that come our way, wasting our energy dwelling on the wrong words or
looks we don't understand. Struggles and challenges will always be a
part of life but it does not have to consume us. So, what are the
blessings from a friend? It can be a smile that warms the heart or
encouraging words helping you to be the best you can be. It can be
partaking in a cup of coffee while enjoying small talk and catching
up on all the little sweet happenings. It can be a card in the mail,
a recipe, a telephone call, a silly joke, or “thanks for thinking
of me.”
God bestowed upon us a
marvelous gift when he gave us friends. Think about your friendship
memorabilia. For instance, letters, photos, ticket stubs, birth
announcements and the little crazy gifts of nothing much, just
because! All those memories are gracious reminders that we have
people who love us. As we reflect, think about the good times, the
giving times, the laughing times and receiving times. Don't leave out
those feast times whether it was cream cheese and crackers or the
wedding of the year. Take time to be silly and have fun, looking for
the humor that suddenly shows up when you least expect it. One of the
most important investment of your time is to cultivate your
friendships and have some face to face visits. Go walking together,
discuss the latest book that you have read, Put on that one size fits
all attitude and connect with friends. Be willing to listen, give of
your time, lend a helping hand; the list is endless but give all with
a smile
So, while counting your
blessings, be a blessings and give from your heart. Find a way to
brighten your friend's life. A loving thought at random times can be
a major event for someone. Seize the moment and thank God for
friends. It doesn't cost a lot of money to be a blessings. The law
of the harvest is never wrong, you reap what you sow, so be a friend
and you will not only be a blessing but you will be the one reaping
friends.
